On December 7, 2011, Fox News's Special Report broadcast highlighted the most recent CMI report on religion and presidential candidates during the political grapevine segment.
The same networks that ignored Rev. Jeremiah Wright and other questions
of faith during the Democratic primaries of 2007 have got religion now
that Republicans are running for president.
ABC, CBS and NBC
mentioned candidates' religion seven times more often in the first ten
months of 2011 than they did in the same period in 2007. They were 13
times more likely to challenge, criticize or play up controversy when
talking about Republicans' faith.
