White House Press Secretary Jay Carney stated that everyone in the White House knew a militant group had claimed responsibility for the Libya Consulate attack "instantaneously." There’s only one problem for the White House. On September 18, Carney said that all the information the White House had suggested a YouTube video was responsible for the attack.
