Bob Woodward: Conservatism in ‘Crisis,’ ‘Does Not Sell’

<p>Appearing on Wednesday&rsquo;s <em>CBS This Morning</em>, <em>Washington Post</em> associate editor Bob Woodward declared that the defeat of Ted Cruz in the Republican primary revealed that <strong>&ldquo;Conservatism in America, in the Republican Party, is in a crisis. It just does not sell.&rdquo;</strong> He argued that Cruz lost because <strong>&ldquo;his ideas have not taken hold and they were totally overwhelmed by the Trump campaign.&rdquo;</strong></p>

<p>Of Trump, Woodward proclaimed: &ldquo;I mean, it&#39;s all about his personality. If you can step back, and this is the hardest thing, he&#39;s a revolutionary. This is the Trump revolution now....You talk to people, as we&rsquo;re doing, and one of them said, &lsquo;One of the things about Trump, there is no governor on his capacity for risk, but he is an exceptional visionary.&rsquo;&rdquo;</p>
