ABC Analyst: Can’t Say If Comedian Impersonating a Vet Is ‘Crossing the Line’

[See NewsBusters for more.] ABC analyst Larry Hackett appeared on Good Morning America, Thursday, to hedge about whether or not it was right for liberal comedian Sacha Baron Cohen to dupe Sarah Palin by portraying a disabled vet in order to con her into an interview. Talking to 10Ten Media managing partner Larry Hackett, co-host Robin Roberts wondered: “Is that not crossing the line?” Hackett responded: “We have to see what it looks like and where it actually takes place in the show.” The stunt will be part of Showtime’s new series Who Is America?  The analyst tried to justify the hoax interview: “Deejays have been doing it for 50 years calling up some store and saying they're somebody.”
