[See NewsBusters for more.] Already preparing for 2022, MSNBC Live host Craig Melvin reported on Tuesday that former Georgia Sen. David Perdue has filed paperwork to run against Raphael Warnock. During the segment, Melvin was joined by podcaster and former counsel for the Congressional Black Caucus Angela Rye, who erroneously declared Warnock to be the first black senator from the South since Reconstruction, ignoring South Carolina Republican Tim Scott. Melvin did not issue a correction.

It all began with Melvin asking, "Perdue came close in November, as you know, how worried should Senator Warnock be?"
