The U.S. special envoy for Iran, Brian Hook, said Monday the U.S. will honor its U.N. treaty obligations to allow Iranian foreign minister Javad Zarif to visit New York on U.N. business, “but that doesn’t mean that we need to allow the Iranian diplomats to roam freely around New York City.” Zarif told NBC News if the U.S. has a problem with its obligations, it could take them up with the U.N.
