During a House Foreign Affairs Committee hearing last week Rep. Michael McCaul (R-Texas) asked Assistant Secretary for the Near East Anne Patterson her view on designating Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps as a “foreign terrorist organization,” and she expressed doubt that the IRGC would meet the legal criteria for designation.
