New York Times Magazine staff writer Nikole Hannah Jones admitted on CNN on Sunday that in the Trump era journalists have abandoned traditional journalism, no longer feeling obligated to offer both sides of an issue, since she and her colleagues consider President Trump and the Republican Party to represent illegitimate positions.

The news media are “really struggling to cover, in a way that appears to be non-partisan, a political landscape where one political party has in many ways gone rogue,” she asserted, so “this adherence to even-handedness, both side-ism, the view from nowhere doesn’t actually work in the political circumstances that we’re in.”
