[See NewsBusters for more.] MSNBC Live host Hallie Jackson and congressional correspondent Garrett Haake excitedly reported on Monday that Democrats are once again pushing for Washington, D.C. to become the 51st state. They both touted the Democrats' power play to add two safe Senate seats as an intriguing part of the Democrats' broader efforts to pass "democracy reform."
Jackson reported that proponents of statehood "are trying to appeal to people beyond the Beltway, framing D.C. Statehood as part of the movement for voting and social justice reform and ending the senate filibuster."
