EU Pushes Ahead With ‘Contact Group’ Which the US Has Said is Not ‘The Way to Go’

European Union foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini on Monday resisted calls by the biggest political group in the European Parliament to cancel participation in an “international contact group” set up in a bid to mediate on the crisis in Venezuela. The Trump administration is not enthusiastic about the initiative, saying the time for dialogue with Maduro has passed.
