It all began with the “horrible” Reagan. On Thursday’s CNN Tonight, anchor Don Lemon noted how Republicans hold up former President Ronald Reagan as the “gold standard.” But, Lemon asserted, you can trace the current GOP to Reagan since “when you look at what he actually accomplished, he didn’t! He was horrible when it came to racial issues” and “horrible when it came to uniting the country. He didn’t unite the country; he was a divider!”
Lemon maintained “the Republican party has been moving in this direction forever,” referring to what he sees as racism behind the attack on the Capitol and “they are the party of everything that they’re trying to pretend that they’re not. The people in the Capitol, that’s not us. Yes, it is you!”
