JUAN CARLOS LÓPEZ: In democracies, public events are generally public. Public servants address the public. And, for example, enacting a law, which is a public act, is done before the media. But there are exceptions, as happened today in Florida. We were telling you yesterday that the Republican-majority legislature passed a law to solve a problem that did not exist, because that electoral process was transparent and efficient. Well, today, Governor Ron DeSantis enacted that law, which already faces legal action, but he did so by giving an exclusive to a media outlet, to (Fox News), to sign the law live, exclusively with them. Take a look.

JOURNALIST: What´s going to be different in the 2022 Florida elections? What are you signing?

RON DESANTIS: Right now, I have what we think is the strongest election integrity measures in the country. In fact, I´m signing it now. (Applause). There you go! The bill is signed.

LOPEZ: Florida is a state where transparency is required, free elections, they talk about what other countries should do. But now you see DeSantis signing a law exclusively for a channel that is not known for giving information, but rather disinformation.
