Blow to Arab, Islamic States as Israel Elected to Chair UN Committee

Arab and Islamic countries have witnessed a major setback to their hitherto effective, decades-long campaign to isolate Israel at the United Nations, as it was elected to head a key U.N. committee for the first time. Kuwait’s delegate, speaking for the Islamic bloc, called Israel's nomination “provocative and offensive.”
