Just days after the House voted to impeach President Donald Trump, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi extended an invitation to the President to deliver his 2020 State of the Union address before the U.S. House of Representatives in February of next year.

In a callous letter, Pelosi wrote the following to Trump:

Dear Mr. President,

In their great wisdom, our Founders crafted a Constitution based on a system of separation of powers: three co-equal branches acting as checks on each other. To ensure that balance of powers, the Constitution calls for the President to ‘from time to time give the Congress Information of the State of the Union.’

In the spirit of respecting our Constitution, I invite you to deliver your State of the Union address before a Joint Session of Congress on Tuesday, February 4, 2020, in the Chamber of the U.S. House of Representatives.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Another delay tactic? House Democrats have yet to send the two articles of impeachment to the Senate for trial – likely because they fear they have no case.

The White House on Friday responded to Pelosi’s letter, saying that the President “has accepted the Speaker’s invitation to deliver the State of the Union Address on February 4, 2020.”

This would be a speech no one should want to miss.
