To impeach or not to impeach, that is the question more and more Democrats are asking themselves.
Perhaps worryingly for House Speaker Nancy Pelsoi (D-Calif.), many of her colleagues aren’t coming to the same conclusion she did. In fact, today marks the day where Ms. Pelosi is officially fighting a battle against a majority of her party in the House.
Yes, Rep. Salud Carbajal (D-Calif.), after announcing that he believed “it is time to open an impeachment inquiry into President Donald Trump,” became the 118th House Democrat to support initiating an impeachment inquiry against the President. This means that just over half of the 235 Democrats in the House are now at odds with Pelosi on the issue, who has advised patience and restraint.
Our nation has seen and heard things from this president that have no place in our democracy.

I believe it is time to open an impeachment inquiry into President Donald Trump.

While confusion hangs over what exactly Democrats are pursuing, several have indicated they see their push as the prelude to a decision on whether to recommend articles of impeachment at the committee level. Some Democrats even said after the Mueller hearings that they were already proceeding with an “impeachment investigation.”
With over half of House Democrats now supporting some form of impeachment inquiry, one must not only wonder if this trend will continue, or if Pelosi and other Democratic leadership will be forced to give in to the demands of their peers.
