Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot will probably be able to chalk up her 2020 as a complete failure. She insists on blaming the wrong people in almost every instance and standing up for those that continue to destroy the city.

At least 10 people were killed and another 60 were wounded in weekend shootings across the Chicagoland area, according to the Chicago Sun-Times. The number of weekend shooting victims in the city of Chicago increased from the previous weekend, which saw 13 people murdered and another 51 wounded.

Just in case Lightfoot needs a reminder, here are the names and ages of those who lost their lives over the weekend:

Devonte T. Merrill, 26

Unidentified Male, 41

Unidentified Male, 21

Jose Jesus Hernandez, 19

Gregory Crawford, 35

Anji Webster, 26

Miguel Rios, 18

Twan Thigpen, 25

Jimmy Blumingburg, 67

Derek Teague, 60

Lightfoot has been too busy deflecting blame onto Chicago Police Department (CPD) officers, asking for complaints against them after “peaceful protesters” conducted a riot over the weekend in an attempt to take down a statue of Christopher Columbus.

An astounding 18 officers were injured in the riot, with reports that rioters were hurling “fireworks, rocks, frozen bottles and other objects” at officers, according to CBS 2 - Chicago.

As for the year-to-date numbers on weekend shooting victims, Chicago is now up to at least 180 people dead and 874 people wounded. The Chicago Tribune, as of this writing, hasn’t updated their count of the total number of Chicago shooting victims regardless of day. However, as of July 11, 1,901 people have been shot in the city of Chicago, which is 550 victims ahead of the same point in 2019.

Maybe when the mayor is done with her busy schedule of virtue signaling all over the place, she can switch her focus to the hundreds of shooting victims that Chicago sees every month. One can hope, but don’t hold your breath.
