What?! Cal Poly SLO Academic Chair Compares Chick-fil-A to 'Pornography,' Wants Restaurant Removed From Campus

If there’s an epidemic of anything in the U.S., it would be one of stupidity. Mix in a little indoctrinated leftist ideology on college campuses and you get what chef Gordon Ramsey would call, “an idiot sandwich.”

Apparently, the Academic Senate Vice Chair at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo thinks that fast food giant Chick-fil-A is comparable to “pornography.”

Wrap your head around that one for a minute. I’ll wait. Have you spontaneously combusted yet?

“We don't sell pornography in the bookstore, and we don't have a Hooters on campus — we already pre-select those kind of things based on our existing values," Thomas Gutierrez told student publication Mustang News, according to The Blaze. "This is a similar thing. The difference is we're actually profiting from this. So our money, every dollar a student is spending at Chick-fil-A, is going to these causes that are in violation of our values.”

The comments come as some faculty and students on campus want the 25-year-old Chick-fil-A location removed. However, it doesn’t look like they’ll get their way.

According to the San Luis Obispo outlet, The Tribune:

Cal Poly will not remove Chick-fil-A from its San Luis Obispo campus, despite renewed calls to do so by faculty and students who criticize the company’s public and vocal support for anti-LGBTQ groups and causes.

Student, faculty and community groups say they want to remove the restaurant because the company’s values are contrary to those of Cal Poly, which has made efforts to be more inclusive of marginalized groups.

However, the San Francisco Chronicle also reported that Chick-fil-A being removed from Cal Poly’s campus would prove difficult considering the school just signed a 5-year extension on the location in 2018.

Surprisingly, Cal Poly spokesman Matt Lazier conceded that even though they may not agree with some of Chick-fil-A’s charitable affiliations, people who have “different perspectives” still have “rights.”

“While university administration passionately disagrees with the values of some of the organizations the president of Chick-fil-A has chosen to make personal donations to, we do not believe in responding to intolerance with intolerance," he told KSBY. "Rather, we must model our values of inclusion – that means upholding the rights of others to have different perspectives and ensuring there is space in our community for differing viewpoints and ideologies, even those that may be in direct conflict with our own.”

Good for Lazier to be able to be civil enough on a college campus to agree to disagree.

Personally, I simply don’t understand the comparison made above by Gutierrez. Maybe I’m stupid. How do you equate the places Chick-fil-A donates to with "pornography?" That's a mental leap that typically only occurs on a college campus. But, these comments are being made because yet another bunch of whiny malcontents don’t like it when others do anything without their specific approval.

Wake up call! You don’t always get your way in life. In fact, you don’t more than you do. Grow up!
