Recently, along with several of my Media Research Center (MRC) colleagues, I got the opportunity to get a taste of what it's like to be a police officer in high-pressure situations. The Law Enforcement Legal Defense Fund (LELDF) was kind enough to give the MRC insight into statistics, proper protocol and the tools of the trade that help law enforcement officers do their job to the best of their ability on a daily basis.

Here a little about the LELDF, according to their website:

Our mission is benevolent and educational. We support and defend the law enforcement profession and those law enforcement officers who have devoted their lives to upholding the Constitution and serving the United States and its citizens while enforcing its laws. We also seek to educate the public about the many risks and threats to law enforcement personnel in order to build a more informed, respectful, and appreciative society.

I have to admit, I learned a lot during my time participating in the simulation, and I have a whole new appreciation for the level of stress that police officers are faced with on a regular basis. The program makes you think about aspects of the job, including the most minute details, that you might otherwise not think about.

Don't forget to watch the video at the top. Stay tuned to MRCTV for more!
