In an effort to further delay proceedings, Senate Democrats and liberals continue to insist on the need for an FBI investigation into sexual misconduct allegations against Supreme Court nominee Judge Brett Kavanaugh – even though Senate Republicans have already conceded by postponing the hearing to Thursday to give Kavanaugh’s accuser Christine Blasey Ford more time to adequately prepare her testimony.

Ironically, during the Clarence Thomas hearings in 1991, then-Democratic Senator Joe Biden – who was also Chairman of the committee – spoke passionately against an FBI investigation into sexual misconduct allegations against the judge, as an FBI report isn’t “worth anything,” he said.

Biden argued that the committee could not rely on an FBI investigation into sexual misconduct because such investigations consist of “he said, she said” and “they do not reach conclusions.”

“The last thing I will point out, the next person who refers to an FBI report as being worth anything, obviously doesn’t understand anything," said Biden. "FBI explicitly does not, in this or any other case, reach a conclusion, period. Period."

"The reason why we cannot rely on the FBI report [is] you would not like it if we did because it is inconclusive," he continued. "They say, ‘He said, she said, and they said. Period.”

“So when people wave an FBI report before you, understand they do not, they do not, they do not reach conclusions,” he fired.

Biden, a potential 2020 presidential contender, is now trying to do damage control.

In an interview with TODAY on Friday, Biden said he believed Thomas’s accuser Anita Hill “from the beginning.”

“I hope that they understand what courage it takes for someone to come forward,” he said of the committee members.

“I’m sorry I couldn’t have stopped the kind of attacks that came to you,” Biden said, addressing Hill. “But I never attacked her, I supported her. I believed her from the beginning.”

He also noted that he voted "no" for Thomas.

Kavanaugh and Ford are set to testify before the Senate Judiciary Committee on Thursday. The vote for his confirmation has been rescheduled for Friday.

In lieu of new allegations against the judge, Senate Republicans said that Deborah Ramirez, who claims Kavanaugh exposed himself to her when she was drunk at a party in college, is also welcome to come forward and speak to the committee.
