Oh, sweet irony! Colin Kaepernick has supposedly — I’m not convinced — been trying to get back into the NFL for three years now, and he’s still unemployed. So it’s at least a tiny bit funny that the football player turned activist got beaten back to the NFL — by someone that was trying to help him get signed, no less.

The Washington Redskins announced the signing 24-year-old wide receiver Jordan Veasy to their practice squad Wednesday afternoon, according to their website.

Veasy was one of the receivers that caught passes from the still unemployed Kaepernick during the embattled quarterback’s contrived November 16th workout, which reportedly still hasn’t even garnered him a phone call.

But Veasy got that call on Wednesday.

Veasy knew that the Kaepernick workout, at the very least, would get him seen by the scouts in attendance. Plus, the undrafted free agent was known to NFL scouts considering his time with the previously mentioned teams.

“It helped,” Veasy said, according to the Washington Post. “That’s one of the reasons I wanted to be a part of it. Just being a part of the history of it, and I knew it was going to help me.”

If you don’t recognize Veasy’s name, that’s because he has yet to play in an NFL game despite spending time with four other teams since May 2018, including the Tennessee Titans, Jacksonville Jaguars, Indianapolis Colts, and Buffalo Bills.

As a side note, and as of this writing, sports coverage juggernaut ESPN still has yet to write an article on Veasy’s signing. However, while no article has been written about Veasy’s notable signing, ESPN did note that Veasy signed on the Redskins transactions page on the ESPN website. But, you wouldn’t know unless you specifically looked at that page.
