During his first televised cabinet meeting since taking office as the Prime Minister of Israel, Naftali Bennett warned the rest of the world about the troubles that could arise from negotiating a new nuclear agreement with the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Bennett spoke of that the recent Iranian election of President Ebrahim Raisi - who Bennett said was "chosen" by Iran's supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei to be the country's new president - would “bring about a ‘regime of brutal hangmen,'" according to The Hill.

“Raisi's election is, I would say, the last chance for world powers to wake up before returning to the nuclear agreement and understand who they are doing business with,” Bennett said, according to Reuters.

Bennett intimated that Israel will stand pat in its stance that former Prime Minister Benjamnin Netanyahu’s administration held.

“A regime of brutal hangmen must never be allowed to have weapons of mass destruction that will enable it to kill not thousands, but millions," he added. "Israel's position will not change on this.”

Bennett’s mind has not changed on this matter for years.

In 2015, when Bennett was Israel’s education minister, he told BBC News that the Iran Nuclear Deal that was reached back then was a “terrible mistake.”

“I think July 14, 2015 will be remembered as the day that the world paved the way for a new nuclear terror superpower, which is the Islamic Republic of Iran,” Bennett said.

The Hill observed CNBC’s report that Raisi currently has sanctions issued by the U.S. that go back to 2019 for “allegedly playing a role in the execution of thousands of political prisoners in 1988 as well as the suppression of unrest in 2009.”
