Virginia State Senator Says Arizona Couple Wouldn't Have Chugged Aquarium Cleaner 'Absent Donald Trump's Suggestion'

A Virginia state senator has taken to Twitter to show his own stupidity and claim an Arizona couple who died after drinking fish tank cleaner this week would never have done so “absent Trump’s suggestion.”

The man is dead and his wife was hospitalized after the couple, who are in their 60s, drank aquarium cleaner because it contained chloroquine, a derivitive of which is also used to treat malaria and which has proven to be at least somewhat effective in treating COVID-19, the disease stemming from the coronavirus. The woman told her husband she’d heard this was the right drug, so the pair drank the cleaner. They started feeling ill within half an hour and were taken to a local hospital, where the man died and his wife wound up in the ICU.

And of course, to the left, this is entirely Trump's fault - that these people drank fish tank cleaner - because he said during a press conference that hydrochloroquine may be effective in treating COVID-19.

"Who thinks this couple would have drank fish tank cleaner absent @realDonaldTrump's suggestion? One more reason to stop live broadcasts of his random thoughts & unvalidated theories of the day," tweeted State senator Scott Surovell, who represents Virginia’s 36th district in Mt. Vernon and chairs the Virginia Senate Democratic Caucus.

Of course, Surovell did not provide a link to any clip in which the president suggested people chug aquarium cleaner to protect themselves against the coronavirus. Because as we all know, blatant lies are perfectly acceptable in the age of Trump Derangement Syndrome.
