The US Capitol was placed under lockdown Tuesday afternoon, but the "all clear" has since been given.
According to reports, authorities were pursuing a tip that someone outside of the building was carrying a weapon.
New York congressman Charles Rangel tweeted out that several members of Congress had taken shelter on the House floor:
This is the second time in the past week the Capitol has been placed on lockdown. Last Friday, a lockdown was implemented upon reports that a woman entered a House office building with a firearm.
