I’ve always wondered why so many Americans get behind politicians who do nothing but tell everyone how horrible the U.S. is in pretty much every way. They’ll say that America was founded on genocide and slavery. They’ll say that women have no rights because America is such an “oppressive” place. They’ll even say that “America was never great.” As an American, why would that impress you? And if the country is so horrible, why do the ones complaining always want to bring in oppressed people from other countries to live here without any vetting?

Some people have had enough of some politicians’ America-bashing rhetoric to the point that they’re now walking out on said politicians during meetings to supposedly attempt to improve communities.

The New York Post is reporting that two U.S. military veterans walked out of a “closed-door Bronx community meeting” last week involving members of a community board and their congressional representative, socialist Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.).

According to the Post:

AOC held the closed-door meeting with about a dozen members of the board [Community Board 11 or “CB11”] on Wednesday night, marking a rare visit to the Bronx part of her district.

One Middle Eastern board member raised the issue of the conflict in Yemen.

The progressive firebrand slammed the US policy of providing bombs to Saudi Arabia, which has supported Yemen’s government in a brutal civil war, according to attendees. Some blamed her for not including the roles of other nations in explaining the volatile region’s violence.

“I just couldn’t hear her BS anymore,” former CB11 chairman and Army veteran Anthony Vitaliano, 78, said. “I just got up, got my umbrella in my hand and walked right out.”

Vitaliano wasn’t the only veteran that reportedly walked out of the meeting. Vietnam veteran and treasurer of CB11 Silvio Mazzella, 74, said that Ocasio-Cortez’s comments “turned me off completely.”

“She knocks the country, she knocks the president,” Mazzella said. “And that’s not what America is about.”

Spokesman for Ocasio-Cortez, Corbin Trent, denied that some people walked out of the meeting, coming up with a pretty generic excuse.

“The only person that left the meeting while it was underway was someone who had to go pick up their children,” Trent told the Post.

Despite Trent’s claim, Vitaliano — one of the men who allegedly walked out of the meeting — wasn’t buying it.

“That’s bulls**t,” Vitaliano responded. “Everybody that was there knows I walked out.”

There’s no video of the meeting, and the reported walk-out, since it was a private meeting.
