Two illegal aliens charged with raping children are on the run after New Jersey and New York authorities refused to turn them over to federal immigration authorities for being in the country illegally.
According to the local CBS report, the two men, both Mexican nationals, were arrested for separate incidents in the Tri-State Area on charges of sexually assaulting a child. Luciano Trejo-Dominguez was arrested on August 12 in Vineland, New Jersey for allegedly restraining and sexually assaulting a child younger under the age of 16. Both ICE and Pacific Enforcement Response Center filed detainers asking Cumberland County Jail to hold him until he could be picked up for immigration violations.
Separately, Joaquin Rodriguez-Quiroz was arrested in New York’s Westchester County on September 6 on 3rd-degree rape charges for allegedly raping a minor under the age of 17. ICE issued a detainer request with the Westchester County Jail on September 7 asking that he be held for ICE removal.
“Despite requests that the men be held in jail until officers from ICE could pick them up, local law enforcement in both states released the suspects back into the public,” CBS reported. Rodriguez-Qurioz was released after posting bond, the report added.
While New York seemingly has no problem releasing child rapists back into the community, NYC passed a new law this week issuing a maximum $250,000 fine for anyone who threatens to call ICE for "discriminatory" reasons or uses the term "illegal alien" in a derogatory manner.
As for Trejo-Dominguez, “New Jersey’s attorney general says the Immigrant Trust Directive issued last year limits law enforcement’s cooperation with ICE,” CBS explained.
The two Mexican nationals are just the latest in a recent spate of reports of illegal aliens who were arrested for sexually assaulting minors. Hundreds of protesters gathered in Montgomery County, Maryland earlier this month to protest the county’s sanctuary city policies protecting criminal aliens after more than half a dozen unlawfully present individuals were arrested for sex crimes against children.
