A twice-deported illegal alien was arraigned this week on second-degree murder charges for allegedly killing a homeless woman in New York City suburb last Friday.

Authorities say Jose Olmos, a 28-year-old Mexican national who’s already been kicked out the United States three times for being here illegally, beat Nurten Seljuk to death sometime in the early morning hours on July 27, leaving her body in the driveway of a local armory. Police arrested Olmos the next day and charged him with murder.

According to this, immigration officials confirmed Olmos had already been deported twice.

“Jose Olmos-Torres, an illegally present citizen and national of Mexico, was previously removed from the U.S. as an expedited removal on two separate occasions in 2009,” said Rachael Yong Yow, Public Affairs Officer for ICE New York. “At some point thereafter, Olmos-Torres illegally re-entered the U.S. in violation of immigration law for the third time.”

Local reports didn't cite a motive for the murder, but did add that police did not have a local address for Olmos and believe he was also homeless.

While New York City has long since held as a "sanctuary state" that protects criminal aliens from being turned over to immigration enforcement, liberal politicians -- including some current candidates for state and local office -- have pushed for expanding these policies state-wide, effectively barring New York law enforcement agencies from cooperating with federal immigration authorities to apprehend and deport illegal aliens who commit crimes. Cynthia Nixon, who's currently challenging Democratic Gov. Andrew Cuomo for his seat, has vowed to make New York a "real sanctuary state" for illegals, while Zephyr Teachout, a candidate for New York attorney general, has made the total abolition of ICE part of her campaign platform.

For now, though, ICE has placed a immigration detainer with the New Rochelle City Police Department requesting Olmos be remanded into ICE custody after the criminal case is completed and he’s served any prison time -- not, of course, that the first two deportations did any good.
