A restaurant in Tucson has shut its doors indefinitely after receiving backlash for a Facebook post in support of President Trump and his pledge and against “fake news” and political correctness.
Shortly after Cup It Up American Grill made a Facebook post on Friday detailing the owner’s political views, the post went viral:

According to Tucson.com, even though the post was removed approximately three hours later, the post still generated enough harassing phone calls and threats that the owners felt they had no choice but to close the restaurant down.
In a statement before ultimately deciding to shut down the restaurant permanently, owners Christopher Smith and Jay Warren apologized for bringing politics into food.
Tucson.com reports the statement read, “Our decision to bring our personal political beliefs into a business forum is regretful, and for this we apologize to all.”
Smith and Warren also said they “never ever fathomed this would create such negative and hateful responses, including threats to burn down our building with us inside.”
Ron Sanchez, a Tucson resident whose granddaughter worked at the restaurant, told KGUN9, “They threatened to burn down the owners in it. It’s a crazy world we’re in, you know.”
The restaurant closed indefinitely on Monday. A sign on the windows of the restaurant reads, “The safety of our employees, and our families is of great concern and is our #priority at this time”:

A protest against the restaurant was scheduled for Tuesday. The protest claimed the owners do “do not believe everyone has the right to use their First Admendment [sic] Rights to free speech or protesting something they feel is wrong.”
