President Donald Trump tweeted a threat to House Democrats, who took control of the chamber in last night’s midterm election, should they launch a congressional investigation into his administration.

“If the Democrats think they are going to waste Taxpayer Money investigating us at the House level, then we will likewise be forced to consider investigating them for all of the leaks of Classified Information, and much else, at the Senate level. Two can play that game!” the president tweeted Wednesday morning, just hours after Democrats picked up at least 26 seats to take control of the House of Representatives for the first time since 2010.

While it’s not clear exactly what Trump thinks the Republican-held Senate might look into in retaliation, House Democrats have been open about launching congressional investigations into the Trump administration over everything from alleged Russian collusion to Trump’s tax records and financial ties to Saudi Arabia. Rep. Nancy Pelosi, poised to once again become Speaker of the House, has repeatedly threatened to use the House’s subpoena powersas leverage in policy negotiations.
