President Trump is pushing back after a story by the Washington Post claimed the president considered rescinding his nomination of Neil Gorsuch for Supreme Court Justice after Gorsuch criticized him.

Trump reportedly questioned Gorsuch’s loyalty to him after Gorsuch told Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.) in a February meeting that he believed the President’s tweets attacking federal judges were “disheartening” and “demoralizing.”

The tweets had to do with the judge presiding the Trump University case and judges blocking his so-called "travel ban" or executive action on immigration and refugees.

The President also allegedly worried that Gorsuch wasn’t grateful enough to him for the appointment.

"Trump was especially upset by what he viewed as Gorsuch's insufficient gratitude for a lifetime appointment to the nation's highest court, White House officials said," writes the Post.

A personal note of gratitude written by Gorsuch reportedly eased his worries.

“Your address to Congress was magnificent. And you were so kind to recognize Mrs. Scalia, remember the justice, and mention me,” the note reads, according to the Post. “My teenage daughters were cheering the TV!”

President Trump on Tuesday called the story “fake news.” He tweeted that he is “very proud” of Gorsuch and that the Post’s 11 unnamed sources "don’t exist!”

The appointment of Justice Gorsuch to the Supreme Court is considered one of Trump’s biggest achievements among conservatives.
