President Trump on Tuesday took to Twitter to praise the two armed congregants who jumped into action when a gunman opened fire at West Freeway Church of Christ in White Settlement, Texas and killed two people.

Trump tweeted that if it weren’t “for the fact that there were people inside of the church that were both armed, and highly proficient in using their weapon, the end result would have been catastrophic.”

“A big THANK YOU to them!” he added.

The man who shot and killed the gunman, Jack Wilson, took the shooter down just six seconds after opening fire.

Wilson, who is a trained firearms instructor and former deputy sheriff, in a Facebook posted said that he was in a position that he hopes “no one would have to be in, but evil exists” and he had to take action.

Video shows him steady and focused on the gunman while everyone ducked down for cover. He told reporters on Monday that he waited until he could get a clear shot and “fired one round.”
