President Trump in a statement on Monday said that he is “pleased that Democrats in Congress have come to their senses” after Senate Republicans and Democrats were able to reach a compromise to end the three-day old government shutdown.

Trump in a statement said that now the government is funded, his administration “will work towards solving the problem of very unfair illegal immigration.”

“I am pleased that Democrats in Congress have come to their senses and are now willing to fund our great military, border patrol, first responders, and insurance for vulnerable children,” said the President. “As I’ve always said, once the government is funded, my administration will work towards solving the problem of very unfair illegal immigration.”

“We will make a long-term deal on immigration if and only if it is good for the country,” said Trump.

White House spokeswoman Sarah Huckabee Sanders at Monday’s press briefing said that the Democrats accepted a deal on Monday that President Trump had “put on the table from the very beginning.”

She said that she thinks Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) and his fellow Democrats “realized that the position that they had taken, frankly, was indefensible.”

Sanders added that the White House hopes Democrats will "come to the table ready to actually make a deal [on immigration] and less focused on playing political games.”

She said that the White House has been clear that it wants a solution to the DACA program and that if “Dreamers” want to hold anyone accountable, "they should storm Capitol Hill and protest there because that is the place that has held up this discussion.”
