White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders on Tuesday touted President Trump as “one of the most accessible presidents” in U.S. history.

When asked why Trump hasn’t held a solo press conference for nearly a year, Sanders replied that the President regularly speaks with the media during press conferences before and after meetings with lawmakers and diplomats as well as during press gaggles on his way "to and from Marine One."

She added that Trump often uses Twitter "where he gets to speak directly to the American people and gives exact information on what his thoughts and feelings are."

His tweets always make news headlines without fail.

"He's one of the most accessible presidents we've ever had," said Sanders. “He gives feedback and answers questions in a variety of different ways. Sometimes it’s through a press conference, sometimes it’s chatting with you guys on the way to and from Marine One. It’s often through Twitter where he gets to speak directly to the American people and gives exact information on what his thoughts and feelings are.”

“The purpose, if I understand correctly, is for you to get information about where the President is and we do that in a variety of different ways,” she added.

While Trump hasn’t held a solo press conference since February, he has often spoken with reporters during high-profile events like the GOP tax bill passing in December.
