Hello? Is this thing on? Anybody out there? I guess not. I guess the never-ending story — one that doesn't care about politics — that's constantly being ignored is the consistent number of people being shot on a weekly basis in cities across the country, and in this case Chicago.

At least six people were murdered and another 21 were wounded in shootings across the Chicagoland area over the weekend. Those numbers mark a significant spike in shooting victims as compared to the previous weekend, which saw at least two people killed with another 13 wounded.

A 16-year-old boy was among the six who were killed.

Here are the names and ages of those who died in shootings over the weekend, according to the Chicago Sun-Times:

Julian Castillo, 16

Javontae Hendricks, age not listed

Unidentified Male, age not listed

Lesean Long, 32

Unidentified Male, 32

As for the year-to-date totals for Chicago weekend shootings, 42 people have been murdered and another 177 have been wounded in Chicago in 2021. The Chicago Tribune, who keeps a tracker of all shooting victims in Chicago, reported that — as of February 26 — 388 people have been shot this year. That number is 62 more than at the same point in 2020, which saw the second most shooting victims in the last 10 years of tracking data.
