Horror and tragedy struck the town of Gilroy, Calif., on Sunday after a depraved shooter opened fire at the town’s annual Garlic Festival, killing three and injuring 15. Of those killed was a six-year-old boy, Steven Romero, who was attending the festival with his mother and grandmother.

"He was a really happy, loving boy… I want justice for my grandson,” Mabriel Romero, the boy’s grandmother, said in an interview with KGO.

The suspected shooter’s motives currently remain unknown, with Gilroy Police Chief Scot Smithee saying the suspect was engaged almost immediately, shot and killed by police.

While the police are still trying to discern the shooter’s motives, it seems as though they may be hot on the trail of a possible accomplice, with Reuters reporting Monday that the police were searching “for a suspected accomplice of the gunman who killed three people."

As the police search for a second suspect and attempt to discern the shooter’s twisted motives, may we pray and lend love to Gilroy. No one should have to experience a mass shooting and the terrible loss such an act brings.
