There’s an ebb and flow to the Chicago weekend shooting numbers in 2020. The number of shooting victims never really goes that low, they’re just lower than high volume weekends. But if we compare this past Thanksgiving weekend to 2019’s Thanksgiving weekend, then the trend seems to be increasing. Ah, 2020 really does stink.

At least 11 people were murdered and another 31 were wounded in shootings across the Chicagoland area over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend. This is up from Thanksgiving weekend last year, which saw four people killed with another 22 wounded.

The previous weekend saw at least six people die from being shot with another 46 wounded.

Here are the names and ages of those who lost their lives over the extended weekend, according to CBS 2 - Chicago and the Chicago Sun-Times:

Deshawn Lemont Jones, 30

Preston L. Kennedy, 23

Unidentified Male, 25

Terrence Goodlow, 27

Luis Flores, 33

Lacey Sheppard, 27

Michael Frigo, 22

Unidentified Male, 25

Jajuan Nile, 34

Andre Roberts, 31

Unidentified Male, 16

Also, 52-year-old Vincell Jackson was stabbed to death early Friday morning.

The year-to-date numbers on weekend shooting victims in Chicago is now up to at least 307 people dead and 1,604 people wounded. The Chicago Tribune shooting tracker, which keeps a weekly count of all Chicago shooting victims regardless of the day of the week, hasn’t changed since November 9 when they reported that 3,619 people have been victims of shootings. That is 1,231 more than at the same point in 2019, and the second highest number behind the same point in 2016 (3,832).
