In addition to stay home, keeping at least six feet away from other people, and wearing a face mask in public, the Powers That Be in Taneytown, Maryland want you to be aware of one more stipulation: yes, you must still wear pants.

That’s the pointed message put out by Taneytown authorities this week after reports that someone in the 7,000-person town wasn’t donning lower-body clothing before going outside to check their mailbox.

“Please remember to put pants on before leaving the house to check your mailbox,” the Taneytown Police Department wrote on Facebook.

The message, which didn’t specify exactly who police were addressing, ended with, “You know who you are. This is your final warning.”

The post raised plenty of local speculation and gossip over who was going out bare-legged to check their mail during the coronavirus shutdown, when most people are still at least putting on pajama pants.
