Apparently, it is perfectly okay to sexually assault women and be allowed to keep your job – if you’re a Democrat. Or at least, that’s the way it seems for The Nation, a national media platform with more than 1.2 million followers on Twitter.
In fact, here are two separate headlines on The Nation’s website, posted within days of one another. One screams foul over allegations against Alabama judge and Senate candidate Roy Moore, using 40-year-old claims of sexual harassment leveled against him to paint the entire Republican Party as a giant club full of politically blinded pedophile lovers.
The other addresses allegations of sexual assault by Minnesota Democratic Senator Al Franken, and takes a much different tack. Observe.
Notice a difference? If the GOP does not rush to condemn their candidate based on allegations of assault, they're partisan hacks who put politics over people. If Democrats allow a proven groper of women keep his seat, that's just good business.
The sentiment seems to be a popular one among left-leaning journos, including one so-called “feminist” writer over at the Washington Post. In an op-ed regarding the Franken debacle – one based not only on allegations, but damning photo evidence – author and “feminasty” advocate Kate Harding purports that sure, Franken may have groped a sleeping reporter and shoved his slimy tongue down her throat uninvited – but he definitely shouldn’t resign. Why?
Literally, because he’s a Democrat.
Harding writes:
If you understand what it means to be a Democrat today — that is, why it makes sense to vote blue over red in this highly polarized political environment — you can understand why it might not make the most sense to demand Franken’s resignation, effective immediately.
She seems to at least be aware of her own blatant double-standard, giving it a momentary head-nod before outright ignoring it altogether.
Isn’t that hypocritical? I hear you asking, Because Republicans won’t do the right thing, we shouldn’t, either? But if the short-term “right thing” leads to long-term political catastrophe for American women, I think we need to reconsider our definition of the right thing.

This is the same pot-meet-kettle doublespeak that allows the left to point wildly at Donald Trump’s history of sexual impropriety while turning millions of blind eyes to the laundry list of sexual abuse allegations against Bill Clinton, or his wife Hillary’s well-documented past of defending pedophiles.
The same lynch mob demanding Roy Moore’s head on a silver platter over his own potential misconduct is all too happy to protect the position of a seated senator who feels comfortable taking photos of him grabbing women’s breasts while they’re out cold. Why? Because they need his votes. They need his #Resistance. Letting a pervert keep his seat is fine, if it's for the greater progressive good -- his victims be damned.
So please, tell me again about how the left protects women.
