Survey Finds Trust in 'Traditional' Media and 'Social' Media at All-Time Lows

Here’s something that should come as a shocker to absolutely no one — trust in the media is at an all-time low. Whether it’s “traditional” radical media outlets or the far-left social media platforms, it doesn’t bode well for them when trust is in the toilet while those entities ramp up their “fact-checking” and politically motivated censorship.

On Thursday, Axios reported on a survey that was “shared exclusively” with them about people’s trust, or lack thereof, for different forms of media. The survey was conducted by global communications firm, Edelman.

The annual Edelman Trust Barometer gauges trust for different forms of media conducted the survey online and includes responses from over 33,000 respondents in 28 countries.

According to the Axios summary of the information:

For the first time ever, fewer than half of all Americans have trust in traditional media, according to data from Edelman's annual trust barometer shared exclusively with Axios. Trust in social media has hit an all-time low of 27%.

  • 56% of Americans agree with the statement that "Journalists and reporters are purposely trying to mislead people by saying things they know are false or gross exaggerations.”
  • 58% think that "most news organizations are more concerned with supporting an ideology or political position than with informing the public.”
  • When Edelman re-polled Americans after the election, the figures had deteriorated even further, with 57% of Democrats trusting the media and only 18% of Republicans.

Here’s the real question: Why would any rational thinking person believe what any of the media tells them anymore?

They simply cannot be trusted, and media outlets know they are on the ropes. That sentiment is evidenced by Big Tech and the “traditional” radical media going after small platforms and YouTube creators for getting better numbers than them. The censorship doesn’t have to do with “misinformation,” it has to do with the fact that these outlets and platforms are threatened by alternative outlets and platforms being flocked to in droves by the people.

Basically, the “traditional” radical media and Big Tech can label whatever and whoever they want with whatever actual “misinformation” they please. But, we the people simply don’t trust any of you anymore, and you brought this on yourselves.

Don’t blame or censor people based on your own intellectual and informational shortcomings. And yet, all of these entities have no self-awareness and thus no clue as to why people dislike them so much.

Stop being propagandistic, pathological liars, and we wouldn’t have this problem.
