Surprise! 'Democratic Socialists' Join Unions in L.A. Teachers' Strike

Who would’ve thought that a Socialist organization would partner with a union? That’s sarcasm, but it actually happened.

The Los Angeles chapter of the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA Los Angeles) have joined the United Teachers Los Angeles (UTLA) union strike to combat and intimidate “scabs” who were hired to supervise students whose parents couldn’t afford “to take time off work or to pay for child care.”

The strike itself has been said to be over teachers pay, but one Los Angeles-based teacher blamed charter schools for taking students away from inferior public schools.

“Charter schools are publicly funded but are not governed by a local district,” teacher Adriana Chavira wrote in a PBS opinion piece, as reported by Breitbart. “In other words, charters schools run more like private schools with little oversight. Most charter school employees are not unionized; therefore approving more charter schools is one way to weaken the UTLA.”

Oh, no! You mean because of the charter schools, unions don’t have as many people to steal from? How tragic!

If the DSA joining the teachers’ union in their strike wasn’t enough socialism for you, the Twitter hashtag #RedForEd has now been adopted by the National Education Association (NEA). Red and black are the go-to colors for Socialists and Communists. Plus, DSA Los Angeles also uses the RedForEd hashtag. So if you were wondering just how socialized the school system is, look no further than this strike and the NEA’s stance.

DSA Los Angeles released a video on their Twitter over the weekend to announce their plan to “walk the line” with the teachers’ union. The video appeals to emotion in a way that would make Joseph Goebbels proud.

Take a look:

Notice how the caption for the video notes that the teachers in the video are “mostly DSA members.”

That should be troubling for any parents that want to keep partisan politics out of their child’s education. Schools should be sticking to teaching facts, not revisionist history.

Socialists partnering with teachers’ unions - or any unions for that matter - should come as no surprise to anyone considering the amount of indoctrination that has infiltrated the school system in the last 50 years or so.

What I don’t understand is that if there are so many socialists in the U.S., not happy with how the U.S. does business, why wouldn’t they want to go live in a Socialist country? I’m not saying they should leave the U.S., but if you’re so unhappy with the way things are going, why would you stay? I wouldn’t stay in a Socialist country, so why would a socialist stay in a capitalist one? I hear Canada kinda likes Socialism.
