Still Too High: At Least 3 Dead, 56 Wounded in Chicago Weekend Shootings, Lowest Numbers in Over a Month

When 59 people are victims of shootings over a single weekend in your city, and that number is the lowest its been in over a month, your city has some problems. Unfortunately for Chicagoans, that problem seems to be its leadership.

At least 3 people were killed and another 56 were wounded in shootings across the Chicagoland area over the weekend. This is down from the previous weekend, which saw at least 10 people murdered and another 60 wounded.

This past weekend’s total is also the lowest since the weekend since the second weekend of June, over a month ago. That weekend saw at least two dead with another 31 wounded.

Here are the names of this past weekend’s victims who died from their wounds, according to the Chicago Sun-Times:

Unidentified Male, Age Unknown

Unidentified Male, 37

Annette McKay, 19

A 13-year-old and two 17-year-olds were also shooting victims, and all three are reportedly in stable to good condition and going to survive their respective wounds.

As for the year-to-date numbers on weekend shooting victims, Chicago is now up to at least 183 people dead and 930 people wounded. The Chicago Tribune, as of this writing, still hasn’t updated their count of the total number of Chicago shooting victims regardless of day. However, as of July 11, the Tribune reports that 1,901 people have been shot in the city of Chicago, which is 550 victims ahead of the same point in 2019.

As usual, Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot is still too busy fighting with President Donald Trump over federal officials coming to the city in order to aid in trying to curb the violence in the city.

The mayor needs to get over her personal hangups with Trump and help the people of the city she was elected to preside over.
