Majority Whip Steve Scalise (R-La.) will return to Congress after the August recess, according to his fellow Louisiana Rep. Garret Graves.

Scalise was injured after being shot in attack on Republican congressmen at a baseball field in Alexandria, Va., on June 14. He was treated at MedStar Washington Hospital Center with severe injuries from a bullet wound to his hip, and was released only a few weeks ago on July 26.

Graves told the press, "He's coming back next month. So we'll see how it goes."

Graves also indicated that Scalise is working hard to keep that deadline.

"He may be fighting off doctors at the hospital to come," said Graves, "Steve is a fighter. His attitude and spirits have remained very high."

Scalise is said to be in good spirits and making a lot of progress in his recovery.
