Some Hamilton Cast Members Haven't Voted In Years

Despite trying to teach Vice President-elect Mike Pence a lesson from their stage, some cast members in the Broadway show "Hamilton" haven’t voted in years.

That’s according to a new report by the Daily Mail, which found some of the main cast of the popular Broadway musical haven’t voted since as late as the 2006 midterm elections.

First off, a note: records for the 2016 election haven’t been released at the time of writing, so it’s impossible to know if any of the cast did or did not vote in this most recent election.

That said, it's still quite stunning to see how long some of the cast has gone without voting at all.

Brandon Dixon, the man who read the message on state to Pence and who plays Aaron Burr in the show, didn’t vote in 2012. Similarly, actor Seth Steward, who plays Thomas Jefferson, voted in 2008 but not in 2012.

Javier Munoz, who plays the titular role of Alexander Hamilton, registered to vote in 2006 and voted in that year’s midterm elections, but not in any election since then.

Okieriete “Oak” Onaodowan, who plays both James Madison and Hercules Mulligan, registered to vote in 2005 but has yet to do so.

Again, it is impossible to know right now if these cast members voted in the 2016 election or not, but it is quite telling that the cast clearly felt comfortable trying to give a lecture to Pence when some of them hadn’t actually voted in years.

For his part, Pence has said he wasn’t offended by any of this, or the audience booing him when he first entered, reportedly telling his kids that it was “what freedom sounds like.”
