If there's one thing the gang bangers on the South and West sides of Chicago are good at, it’s shooting people no matter how many cops are around.

Despite the increased presence of federal agents aiding the Chicago Police Department (CPD), six people were murdered and 35 others were wounded in shootings across the Chicagoland area over the weekend.

While this is a precipitous drop in victims of shootings from the previous weekend, this past weekend’s numbers merely dropped back to its usual average.

The previous weekend saw an abnormally high number of victims considering it wasn’t an extended holiday weekend. Eleven people were killed in cold blood, while another 44 others were wounded during a weekend that saw a 62 percent jump in shootings from two weekends ago.

Here’s an example of this past weekend’s violence:

An 18-year-old man died Sunday after he was shot in both legs in the 5400 block of South Damen Avenue in the Back of the Yards neighborhood about 9 p.m.  Someone took him to Holy Cross Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Circumstances leading up to the shooting were not known, but officers were checking an alley.

It seems as though an entire generation of young people in Chicago are being needlessly murdered, as the vast majority of shooting victims in Chicago are under 40 years old.

The politicians in Chicago constantly say how they want to combat the violence going on in their city, and then come promises equally as empty as their words concerning the city.
