Shoppers Bully Woman Out of Staten Island Grocery Store For Not Wearing a Mask

I don't know what's in the water in Staten Island, N.Y., but there seems to be a lot of "Karens" - both female and male - in that area. Staten Island has been hit hard by COVID-19, and you should absolutely be taking the proper precautions. But to turn into an angry mob because someone isn't wearing a mask makes you look foolish. When did not wearing a mask equal being infected with COVID-19?

In a now viral video, an incident that reportedly occurred two weeks ago at a Staten Island ShopRite is now coming to light in which an angry mob of grocery store shoppers can be seen bullying a woman out of the store for not wearing a mask.

Here's the video, which has been seen on Twitter over 7.2 million times:

These people in particular - not all Staten islanders - acted as if this woman was the epicenter of the virus.

I don't know. I've seen a lot of people on Twitter praise what these people did to that woman. Then again, it is Twitter. But, I just don't get it. Those people acted like rabid dogs who had been trained well by their politician masters to live in fear and persecute anyone who goes against the state. The ironic part is that so many New Yorkers don't seem to realize at times that it is their own politicians who made the impact of this virus as bad as it has been on them.

In response to the incident, ShopRite released a statement saying that while "preventing the spread of COVID-19 is a shared responsibility," people who notice others that aren't wearing masks should just report it to customer service instead of taking it into their own hands.

"Preventing the spread of COVID-19 is a shared responsibility. At ShopRite, we continue to adhere to our sanitation and social distancing protocols to ensure our stores remain a safe place for associates and customers to work and shop," ShopRite said in a statement, according to CBS News. "We are all in this together and we ask for everyone to be patient and understanding during this difficult time."
