Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.) at the “Rally to Stop Kavanaugh” on Capitol Hill on Wednesday said that the confirmation of Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh would “in effect” make President Trump a monarch.

“We’re not going to allow Brett Kavanaugh on the Supreme Court without a real fight of our lives,” he said.

“Brett Kavanaugh is, in effect, a get-out-of-jail-free card for Donald Trump,” he went on. “He is a way for Donald Trump to protect himself because Brett Kavanaugh has said just coincidentally, you don’t think that President ought to be subpoenaed to a grand jury. How convenient.”

He was referring to a 2009 statement where Kavanaugh wrote that the indictment of a President "would cripple the federal government."

“The President would in effect be a monarch,” said Blumenthal. “The president would be a monarch if Brett Kavanaugh becomes a Supreme Court justice.”

“I don’t think Americans want an imperial presidency. Do you?” he asked.

Trump nominated District of Columbia Court of Appeals judge Brett Kavanaugh to replace retiring Justice Anthony Kennedy on the bench.

Ever since, there has been hysteria and fear-mongering on the part of liberals and Democrats, claiming Kavanaugh's confirmation would effectively lead to the end of the world.

“A judge must interpret law statutes as written," Kavanaugh said during his acceptance speech. "A judge must interpret the Constitution as written."

Obviously his words mean nothing so far as they're concerned.
