There's a reason the best and brightest of Americans who live in the real world - and don't live in soundbites - never become politicians. They're not completely inept. These politicians say some of the dumbest things you've ever heard, while only being in the position that they are because they were the "lesser of two evils."
Seattle City Councilwoman Tammy Morales took part in a city council briefing on Monday, and during comments concerning race and the events following the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis last week, the community organizer bashed people who want rioters and looters "to be told to be civil."
"But what I don’t want to hear is for our constituents to be told to be civil, not to be reactionary, to be told looting doesn’t solve anything,” Morales said. “It does make me wonder why looting bothers people so much more than knowing that across the country, black people are being killed around the country."
Using her own words and logic, Morales seems to think that only black people are ever killed in this country. Or is it that Morales doesn't care about killings unless it's a black person being killed by a white person?
People of every race get killed by people of every race every single day. People are victims of gang-related shootings in places like Chicago, Baltimore and St. Louis every day. Why is it that we only hear outrage from people like Morales when it's politically expedient for them? Because politicians are opportunists, and they only take calculated risks when it serves their purposes.
