Former Pennsylvania Senator Rick Santorum commented on Beto O’Rourke’s threats to remove the tax-exempt status from churches who hold a biblical-view of marriage during the Values Voter Summit Friday.

“They [the Progressive left] are not about freedom,” Santorum told MRCTV. “They are about dictating to people what they have to believe and if they don’t believe what the progressive left believes, you will punish them. You will treat them as second-class citizens. You will try to harm them and hurt them to disadvantage them in society.”

During Thursday’s “LGBTQ Equality” town hall on CNN O’Rourke told Don Lemon, “there can be no reward, no benefit, no tax break for anyone or any institution, any organization in America that denies the full human rights and the full civil rights of every single one of us. And so as president, we're going to make that a priority and we are going to stop those who are infringing upon the human rights of our fellow Americans.

Santorum explained that though the left looks at conservatives and Christians as “judgmental” and “mean-spirited,” it’s really they who practice these type of attitudes with those who disagree with them.

“They look at it as a zero-sum game,” Santorum said. “You either are for them, and if you are not for them, you’re evil and you must be suppressed. You must be condemned.”

“This is what China does,” he continued. “This is what Russia does. This is what socialist countries and authoritarian countries all over the world do, which is crush dissent.”

“If that doesn’t scare Americans, if that does create some trepidation about what their real motive and intent is — I don’t know what will,” he concluded.
