White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders on Tuesday slammed Hollywood celebrities for hosting a “People’s State of the Union” anti-Trump event in New York Monday night ahead of the President’s first State of the Union address.

Sanders in an interview on “Fox & Friends” criticized the celebs who participated in the event as negative and delusional.

“Their message is one of negativity and frankly I think a little bit of delusion,” she said. “We’ve had an incredible first year. The economy is booming, ISIS is on the run, we're remaking the judiciary. This has been a historic year by any way you look at it.”

Sanders added that if Americans cared what celebrities thought, then Hillary Clinton would be president.

“They clearly don’t,” she fired. “She brought out every A-list, B-list, and C-list celebrity she could find to help her build crowds, and it didn’t matter.”

Sanders went on to say that the “People’s State of the Union” event and the Trump bashing at the Grammy’s on Sunday serve as yet “another reminder of how out of touch” Hollywood is with Middle America.

"I almost feel sorry for these people,” she said. “They're so focused on hating this president that they're missing all of the great things that are happening in this country. And I think that’s really sad for them and I think they’re missing an opportunity to actually bring people together and show a better side of themselves.”

Sanders continued, “Instead, I think they look small and it's impacting them in a much more negative way than it's impacting the president because he's doing great, he's in great spirits, the country’s doing great, and we’re really excited about it.”

The Monday night event was billed as a rally for the “resistance movement” and as a “public alternative” to President Trump’s State of the Union address.

It included speeches by filmmaker Michael Moore, comedian Amy Schumer, actress and comedian Wanda Sykes, actor John Leguizamo, and Democratic New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio, as well as music by entertainers Andra Day and Common who performed their song "Stand Up for Something" from the movie "Marshall."

Organizers for the Women’s March and Planned Parenthood were among the hosts of the event, AP reported.

President Trump delivers his first State of the Union address Tuesday night at 9 p.m. EST. He is expected to talk jobs and the economy, trade, infrastructure, immigration and national security.
