Russian YouTube Pranksters Seem to Have Tricked Maxine Waters into Fake Phone Call with 'Greta Thunberg'

Typically when an older person get duped or taken advantage of, most people are upset at the people who are engaging in the deception. But when it’s a prank phone call and it involves Rep. Maxine Waters (D-Calif.), you might find that your sympathy is a little lacking.

One of the leaders of the leftist movement to impeach President Donald Trump since the day he took office, Waters seems to have fallen prey to Russian pranksters and Youtubers Vovan and Lexus, whose real names are Vladimir Kuznetsov and Alexey Stolyarov. The pair, who also fooled House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) into believing they had “naked Trump” pictures in 2018, called Waters pretending to be climate change alarmist Greta Thunberg and her father, Svante Thunberg.

Vovan and Lexus posted an animated video of the recorded prank phone call and posted it to their YouTube channel. If you’ve ever heard the younger Thunberg speak, you’d clearly be able to tell that the voice on the other end of the phone wasn’t actually her.

Don’t tell that to Waters. She bought it hook, line and sinker from beginning to end.

The fake Thunberg and her father claimed that they were in North Carolina at a “meeting” about the preservation of a fictitious location, the “Chon-go-Chango islands.” The pranksters even got Waters to make a statement to the “meeting” praising the Thunbergs and promoting the protection of the “Chon-Go-Chango islands,” which again is not an actual place that exists.

“She [Greta] has been the greatest advocate for what is happening with our climate and the environment,” Waters began in her speech to no one, “and I’m very pleased that she’s with you in North Carolina where you’re focusing on protecting the very important island of Chula Chonge [sic].”

Fake Greta also spoke with Waters about a “confidential” meeting between Greta and Trump at the United Nations (U.N.) in September of 2019, telling the congresswoman that she can’t sleep or eat when she sees Trump on TV. In case you were wondering, that September meeting between Trump and Thunberg never happened.

“I saw him in the hallway [at the U.N.],” fake Greta told Waters. “He was with security and I shouted at him, 'Sign the Paris Climate Agreement again!' He came over, he leaned in towards me, and said softly, 'Listen carefully to me, little girl. You will never achieve your goal, like the congressional goal, trying to accuse me.’”

Again, Waters hatred of Trump blinded her to the validity of the story and she once again fell for the lie.

“He said you will never achieve your goal?! Waters exclaimed. “Oh my goodness!”

Waters also seemed very interested when the fake elder Thunberg suggested that his daughter could make a speech on Capitol Hill to try and influence opinion on the impeachment of the president.

“We are working very hard. We are putting together the facts and we're going after him," Waters said to the pranksters. "We're going to try everything that we have to impeach him. Yes. And if the public knew that he talked to Greta like that, he made her cry, and told her she would never achieve, this would go against him too.”

If those statements don’t make it crystal clear that the left is impeaching the president for no other reason than they don’t like him and are upset they lost in 2016, I don’t know what will.

The video is chock full of gems that will most likely give you a chuckle or two. It just goes to show, once again, that you don’t need to be a genius to be a member of Congress.

As Fox News noted, Waters' office didn't respond to an inquiry about the phone call.

Here’s the animated video of the prank exchange between Waters and the impersonators:
