The Muppet Show is famous for Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy, Gonzo the Great’s catastrophic stunts, and general side-splitting humor. But Disney execs, with their penchant for focusing on the negative, saw the famous 1970s-80s series in a different way.
Disney announced that the most sensational, inspirational, celebrational, muppetational show on TV is somehow “offensive,” according to the Washington Examiner. To that end, the streaming network Disney Plus added an “offensive content” disclaimer to the series' content details page: “This program includes negative depictions and/or mistreatment of people or cultures. These stereotypes were wrong then and are wrong now.”
The New York Post deduced that the disclaimer may be referring to portrayals of Native Americans and Asians that take place in some episodes, plus the exhibition of a Confederate flag one time in Season five.

Because obviously, the main point of the Muppet Show was to perpetuate racial stereotypes. Providing fun entertainment was the last thing on Jim Henderson’s mind.
Disney Plus decided not to remove the Muppet Show from their platform supposedly due to educational motives, as detailed in the “offensive content” disclaimer, which reads: “Rather than remove this content, we want to acknowledge its harmful impact, learn from it and spark conversation to create a more inclusive future together.”
That’s rich coming from a company that fired Gina Carano for her different views.
